Lectio - Lk 9.51-62
Meditatio: “When the disciples, James and John, saw this they asked, ‘Lord, do you want us to call down fire from heaven to consume them’?” Lk 9.54
Oratio: "O God, You show mercy and restraint in dealing with us.
I remember Jesus rebuked his disciples when they wanted to call down fire to consume the Samaritan village who did not welcome Your Son and His disciples.
Grant that I may only use the power I have to advance Your kingdom and never for revenge.
I ask this of You, who lives and reigns with Jesus and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever. Amen.”
Contemplatio: Keep silence and remain in recollection for a few minutes.
Operatio: Today, I will reflect on the power I have and how effectively I am using it to advance God’s kingdom.

- I was ordained for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia on May 15, 1993. I am a widower with 8 children and 24 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. On July 1, 2014 I began my residence at St Mathew Parish in Philadelphia, PA. My last assignment was pastor of St.Elizabeth Ann Seton in Bensalem, PA since November of 1999. I have created this Blog in response to Pope Benedict XVI's recommendation that Priest use modern means of communications to reach out to people with the Good News. I publish daily my Lectio Divina efforts via a group email. I will publish such efforts from time to time to this site as well as other pertinent info about the Good News of Jesus Christ or issues which are contrary to the Good News. What is Lectio Divina? Lectio Divina is the Study of and Meditation on Sacred Scripture. The steps include: Reading (Lectio),- Pondering (Meditatio); Praying (Oratio) and Silence(Contemplatio). I use the daily Lectionary as the source of readings.
