12.28.14
Lectio: Lk 2.22-35
Meditatio: "and Simeon blessed them and said to Mary, ‘Behold this child is destined for the fall and rise of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be contradicted’.” Lk 2.34
Oratio: O God, You knew not all would accept Your Son but nevertheless You sent Him out of love for all of us.
I remember Simeon, a righteous and devout man, who recognized Your Son, when He was p resented in the Temple, as the Messiah. He also recognized Your Son would be a sign of contradiction; i.e. He would be accepted by some and rejected by others; He would divide even households; but He would be the source of salvation for all who accepted Him. In prayer thank God for sending His Son and may I always give Him honor and praise for coming.
I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.
Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what
God is saying to you.
Operatio: reflect:"child...sign....contradicted”; Jesus would unite; but He would also divide for not all would accept Him; but for those who accepted Him, He gave eternal life. Seek the grace of a strong faith and a strong sense of gratitude for without Him, we would be doomed.
Tomorrow's reading: Lk 2.36-40
