Lectio: Mt 4. 1-12                                            

Meditatio: “He began teaching them, ‘Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven’.” Mt 2-3                       
                                                            
Oratio: O God, Your Son at the beginning of His public ministry proclaimed the Beatitudes, the ways of blessedness, the Magna Carta of Christian living. Pray to have the right attitude to things that are hard for that is the essence of the Beatitudes and the way to their blessings that follow to those who do.

Operation: reflect: "He....teaching...Blessed are”; Jesus gave us the Beatitudes and held out to us many blessings for having the right attitude. Seek the grace to live the Beatitudes which leads to a fulling life in the now and t he hereafter

Meditatio: “For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.” Lk 14.11

Oratio: O God, humility is a priceless virtue and Jesus extolled it as paradoxically the way to true greatness. Pray that I may always be humble of heart for the greater honor and glory of God.

Operatio: reflect, “ exalts...humbles...exalted”; the path to greatness lies in the path to recognizing who we are and acting accordingly. Seek the grace to be humble for that is how Jesus proposes we attain true worth.

Meditatio: “In those days he departed to the mountain to pray, and he spent the night in prayer to                      God.” Lk 6.12
                                                            
Oratio: O God, Jesus not only prayed to Yo u but He spent a great time at prayer. If He had a felt need to do so, how much more should we! Pray that you set more than enough time aside to commune with God and especially through Jesus and through Mary.

Operation: reflect: "departed....pray... spent...night”; what an example Jesus gave us as to the importance of prayer! Seek the grace to set aside daily time for private prayer and we will find  that time will prove to be the most beneficial time of the day for us.

Meditatio: “Then he said, ‘What is the kingdom of God like? To what can I compare it’?” Lk13.18                                                                              
Oratio: O God, Jesus asked the rhetorical question as to what to compare the kingdom of God? He then gave two parables - the mustard seed and the yeast. In both the message is clear from a small begging much will result. Pray to do your part to spread the Good News.

Operation: reflect: "kingdom...like...compare”; Jesus gave us two examples both of which involve small beginnings and great results. Seek the grace to allow God to use you in your littleness to evangelize and He will bring about the  results He deisres.

Lectio: Mk 10.46-52

Meditatio: “Jesus told him, 'Go your way; your faith has saved you.' Immediately he received his sight and followed him on his way." Mk 10.52

Oratio: O God, Jesus not only cured Bartimaeus of his blindness but Bartimaeus by his immediate action of following Jesus up the way to Jerusalem and Calvary shows what we should do. Pray to follow Jesus in this life and you will find a sure leader to lead you to the end of life's journey   - the kingdom.

Operation: reflect: "faith...saved...received...sight...followed him"; blind but now he can see because Bartimaeus put his faith in Jesus. Seek the grace to see things as I ought and I, too, will be richly blest in this life and the next.

Lectio: Lk 13.10-17                     

Meditatio: “When Jesus saw her, he called to her and said, ‘Woman, you are set free of your infirmity’.” Lk 13.12                               

Oratio: O God, Jesus by His words and His touch cured a woman who was unable to stand erect for 18 years.  How sad that the religious leaders only saw curing as work and unlawful to do on the Sabbath. Pray to have a true conscience and allow Love to be your guide in all situations of doubt.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence & meditate on the selected passage and hear what  God speaks to you,

Operation: reflect: "Jesus....Woman.....free"; by a touch and a command, Jesus did a marvelous thing  but His religious critics could only see it as a violation of their interpretation of work forbidden on  the Sabbath. Seek the grace to keep holy the Sabbath but never allow it to be an excuse to do show selfless love for a person in need.

Lectio: Lk 12.49-53

Meditatio: “Jesus said to His  disciples, 'I have come to set the earth on fire, and how I wish it were already blazing!"

Oratio: O God, You so loved the world, You gave us Your only Son, and Your Son so loved the world He gave His very life for us, and he so much wants all of us to set the world on fire with selfless love. Pray that we may love in all things and we will be true believers of the Lord.

Operation: reflect: "Jesus...set...fire...wish...blazing"; Jesus so much wants love to be the primary motive for our actions and He gave us THE example
of His  sacrificial love for us. Seek the grace to be a true lover, a selfless lover, for that is the kind of love that keeps Jesus' love alive in our hearts.

Meditatio: “Jesus said to the crowds, 'when you see a cloud rising cloud in the west, you say, 'It is going to rain - and so I does; and when you notice the wind is blowing from the south, you say, 'it is going to be hot-so it is." Lk 12.54

Oratio: O God, Jesus was upset by the crowd who could interpret the signs in the sky, and yet could not interpret the signs he was giving. Pray to see the marvelous in creation and to realize the love and greatness of God who brought it into existence.

Operation: reflect: "Jesus...upset...cloud...wind"; Jesus made His identity obvious to anyone who was searching for the Messiah and many refused to accept the obvious much to Jesus chagrin.  Seek the grace to be always open to Jesus presence whether obvious or not for He reveals Himself for our good.

Meditatio: “Or those eighteen people who were killed when the tower of Siloam fell on them - do you think they were more guilty than everyone else who lived in Jerusalem?” Lk 12. 4                                                                     
Oratio: O God, Jesus calls all to repent and he pointed out that it not those who are killed in accidents who are more guilty than anyone who did not. Pray to avoid rash judgments and when you come to your senses after sinning to immediately turn to the Lord and repent for He so much wants us to return to Him.

Operation: reflect: "people....killed...more guilty...” Jesus made it clear that people who die in tragedies are not necessarily sinners and He urged all to be vigilant and repentant. Seek the grace to live as Jesus directed and repent as often as you sin for that is His way and our way to Him.

Lectio: Lk 12.39-48                                           

Meditatio: “Be sure of this, if the master had known the hour when the thief was coming, he would not have let his house be broken into You must also be prepared for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.” Lk 12.39-40           

Oratio: O God, Jesus by his parables warned us of the end of our time and to be prepared for it each and every day. Pray to live each moment as this were your last moment and you will not have to worry when the beginning of the next life starts.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence & meditate on the selected passage and hear what  God speaks to you,

Operation: reflect: "known...thief...coming...be prepared”; As believers in Jesus and as His brothers and sisters, we must be prepared daily for leaving this world. Seek the grace to be prepared for eternal life with the Lord and our loved ones is certainly most worthwhile and motive enough to be so..
