2.13.15
Lectio: Mk 8.1-10
Meditatio: "They also had a few fish. He said the blessing over them and ordered them to be distributed also. They ate and were satisfied,,,There were about four thousand people.” Mk 8.7, 8a, 9
Oratio: O God, Your kindness and compassion is without comparison.
I remember Jesus was aware that a crowd of four thousand had followed him for three days and they were without food and many were a long way from home. So he worked a miracle and fed them all with just seven loaves and a few fish. In prayer thank God for His loving concern for us and feeding us, body and soul, as no one else could.
I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.
Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what
God is saying to you.
Operatio: reflect:"few fish...blessing...ate...four thousand”; Jesus responded to the total needs of the crowd; first by preaching - feeding their spiritual hunger and then multiplying the bread and fish - to satisfy their physical hunger. Seek the grace to respond to the needs of those whose lives we touch regardless of the size of the need; Whether God will work a miracle is up to God. But in a real sense a miracle has already occurred - our willingness to respond to a need that is greater than our resources.
Tomorrow's reading:Mk 1. 40-45
