Oratio: O God, You so much wanted all to believe.

I remember Jesus worked many miracles so that people would believe but sadly some were hard of heart and others only concerned with their power to their detriment. Pray that I may be ever open to the Word and do His will for my good and the good of the people I serve.

I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what God is saying to you.

Operatio: reflect: "works...do...testify...me”; do you ever \wonder why the religious leaders rejected Jesus?  I find in incredible that they did in the light of the many and varied miracles He worked. Oratio: O God, You have appointed shepherds to take care for us but some shepherds only take care of themselves.

I remember Jesus castigated the Pharisees and the Scribes for not shepherding the people but only acting as hired hands; and when trouble brewed,  they fled leaving their sheep without protection . Pray that I may always put the needs of those whom I serve ahead of mine for that is the essence of anyone who is called to serve.

Oratio: O God, how Your Son took such great care of us!

I remember that He promised to feed us with His very self and give us life without hunger or thirst. He would do it at a great cost to Him - His life and through the Eucharist. Pray to always receive this great sacrament worthily so that the effects Jesus wants for all of us, will come to be.

Oratio: O God, Your Son worked so hard to draw people to You.

I remember that He upbraided people for seeking Him for the wrong reasons - for food for this life and not for food that is for eternal life. But that did not stop Your Son from continuing to minister to them. Pray that one’s belief in Jesus is based on true gratitude for all He did for us and not simply for what one might personally get out of it.

I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what God is saying.

He did out of His great love for us. Seek the grace to show one’s gratitude for all that Jesus did by keeping the commandments which are summed up in “love” for that is the best way to show it.

I remember that not only did He greet then with ‘Peace’ but also showed them His wounds and ate a piece of fish to show that He was not a ghost or vision. And they were amazed. In prayer remember the hour when Jesus died for us so that we would have the fruit of His death and resurrection and rejoice!

I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what God is saying.

Operatio:  reflect:"incredulous...joy....amazed...anything...eat;” Jesus appeared to His disciples that first Easter and showed them His wounds and ate a piece of baked fish - all to show that He was truly alive. Seek the grace to recognize Jesus alive and present in the other especially in the poor, the sick and the outcast and recognize Him in the breaking of the bread for He has graciously allowed us to see Him even now.

Jn 6.19-20

Oratio: O God, what a toller coaster it must have been for the first disciples.

I remember that as they rowed across the lake, Jesus came to them walking on the water. This was right after He multiplied the loaves and fishes. Instead of joy, they were afraid; but Jesus then calmed their fears. Pray that when Jesus appears to us that we may recognize Him as Mother Teresa of Calcutta did;  and we will be greatly blest by the encounter.

I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what God is saying.

Operatio:  reflect:"Jesus walking....sea...afraid....Do .not...afraid”; Jesus walked on the water and came near to where the disciples where and they greatly feared at seeing Him. He immediately calmed their fears. Seek the grace to be aware of the presence of Jesus in the lonely, the outcast, the sick; and be open to Him and minister to Him for what you do for the least of them, you do for Him.

Pray that all when come to know and believe in The Lord so that His mission may be completed and all will have His life within them.

I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You

and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what God is saying.

 Tomorrow's reading: Jn 3.31-36

Monday, April 13, 2015

4.13.15

 Lectio:  Jn 3.7b-15

Meditatio: "And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.” Jn 3.14,15

Oratio: O God, You have shown us the path to Your kingdom,

Oratio: O God, You have been most generous to us by giving us an eventual  abode in Your kingdom with little effort on our part.

I remember Jesus told Nicodemus that you must be reborn again from above in order to enter the kingdom of God. Jesus went on to tell that this rebirth occurs through water and the Spirit. The Apostle Paul makes it clear in his epistles that this rebirth occurs through the waters of Baptism during which the Spirit comes upon the one being baptized. Pray that all whose lives you touch are gifted with Baptism and that they lives in accord with their rebirth as children of God.

Operatio:  reflect: "kingdom...without...born....above”; Jesus made it clear the need for a rebirth in order to enter the kingdom; and that rebirth occurs through Baptism - a Baptism in fact or a Baptism of desire. Seek the grace to reflect the life of a child of God so that you show you recognize the great gift given to you and so that others may be influenced by you and seek the waters of Baptism.

Oratio: O God, You know how hard it is for us to believe.

I remember Jesus appeared in the flesh to His disciples following His crucifixion and He gave them solid evidence that He was not a ghost as He ate a piece of baked fish that they gave Him when He asked for something to eat. Pray that you give others by your actions strong evidence of your belief in the Risen Christ.

I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what God is saying.

Operatio: reflect: "Messiah...suffer...rise..preached...all nations"; Jesus appeared to His  disciples that first Easter evening and gave proof that He was not a ghost to them so they would believe and accept their mission to spread the call to repentance to all nations.  Seek the grace to do one's part to spread the good news to those whose lives one touches and who do not know the Lord and especially by the life You live.

 Tomorrow's reading: Jn 21.1-14

4.09.15

 Lectio: Jn 21.1-14

Meditatio: "Jesus came over and took the bread and gave it to them, and in like manner the fish. This was now the third time Jesus was revealed to his disciples after being raised from the dead." Jn 20.13,14

Oratio: O God, You know how important it is to have witnesses to certain happenings if they are to believed.

I remember Jesus appeared in the flesh to His disciples several times after He rose from the dead including His appearance on the sea shore following and all night but unsuccessful fishing trip by seven of the apostles.  He turned it into a most successful one and He cooked and served breakfast to them. In prayer give witness to Christ by the way you live your life.

I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what God is saying.

 Tomorrow's reading: Mk 16.9-15

.4.10.15

 Lectio: Mk 15.9-15

Meditatio: "When he had risen, early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had driven seven demons." Mk 15.9

Oratio: O God, Your ways are not our ways and they are often surprising.

I remember Jesus first appeared to Mary Magdalene when He rose from the dead. This was a most surprising first choice since woman were held in low esteem in His day and their testimony was considered so unreliable, that it was not admissible in court. Pray to see others as God sees them and not as man would have us see others.

I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what God is saying.

Operatio:  reflect: "he...risen...first...Mary Magdalene"; He had cast out seven demons from her and testimony in her day was considered unreliable. Why did He pick her to be first? Jesus in doing so made it clear His mission was to the disenfranchised, the sinner, the outcast, and Mary fit at least two of those categories.  Seek the grace to let God be God and simply bask in His wisdom and graciousness.

 Tomorrow's reading: Jn 20.19-31

4.11.15

 Lectio: Jn 20.19-31

Meditatio: "Thomas answered him and said to him, ‘My Lord and my God’ Jesus said to him, “Have you come to believe because you have seen? Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed’.” Jn 20.28,29

Oratio: O God, You know that faith is hard for us because we are called to believe in something we cannot see but You provide the grace to all who search for You.

I remember Jesus appeared to the disciples that first Easter evening but Thomas was not there and he refused to accept the testimony of the ones who were there. He had seen Jesus die and he did not need any false hope. A week later Jesus appeared again to them and Thomas was there. He now came to believe because he saw but Jesus then proclaimed ‘Blessed’ those who believe who do not see. How? Down through the ages people have come to faith because they accepted the proclamation of the Good News or they saw Christ alive in the life of a believer; or they saw the good life lived in accord with the virtues of faith, hope and love. Such could only have come to faith through God’s grace which He offers to all who seek Him. Pray for all people that they may be open to the Good News and come to believe in it for faith in Jesus is the way to eternal life.

I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what God is saying.

Operatio:  reflect: "believe...have seen....Blessed...not seen...and believe”; seeing is believing but seeing Jesus is not given to us today but we are given the grace to accept the Good News which is proclaimed and we do see Jesus reflected in the lives of those who live the faith. Seek the grace to reflect Christ alive in you for the sake of those who are seeking God so that search will not ve in vain and Jesus will be most pleased with his siblings.

Meditatio: “And it happened that, while he was with them at table, he took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them. With that their eyes were opened and they recognized him, but he vanished from their sight.” Lk 24.30,31

Oratio: O God, You wonderfully have made it possible to see the Risen Lord here on earth.

I remember Jesus made His presence known to the two disciples on went to Emmaus that first Easter Sunday in the breaking of the bread at table. In prayer thank Jesus for allowing us to recognize Him every day in the Eucharist in which the breaking of the bread occurs

I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what God is saying.

Oratio: O God, the Risen Jesus was markedly different.

I remember Jesus appeared to Mary Magdalene at the tomb but she did not recognize Him and thought Him to be a gardener. Pray to recognize Christ in the other for that is how He was present of Mary Magdalene and that is how he is present to us, today.

I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what God is saying.

Operatio: reflect, "Jesus...why...weeping...gardener....tell me”; Mary Magdalene was only able to recognize Jesus when He spoke to her. Seek the grace to listen to others and you may be surprised that on some occasion (s) you may hear Jesus talk to you through them.

4.05.15

 Lectio: Mt 28.8-15

Meditatio: “The soldiers took the money and did as instructed. And this story has circulated among the Jews to the present day.” Mt 28.15

Oratio: O God, how tragice that  the religious leaders bribed the soldiers, the eye witnesses to the resurrection, and denied the people this greatest of all miracles that is  meant for their salvation.

I remember that first Easter morning that the guards at the tomb witnessed the resurrection but when the religious leaders heard their report, they bribed the guards to tell a story of the disciples stealing His body while they were asleep. That story was the official line that deceived so many good Jews. Pray to be open and truthful in all one’s dealing so that no one is lead astray by one’s falsehoods.
I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what God is saying.

Operatio: reflect, "soldiers....money...this story...circulated”; how many missed out on the greatest miracle ever - Jesus’ resurrection - because the religious leaders wanted to hold onto power! Too many! Seek the grace of integrity and let your “Yes” always mean “Yes” and your “No” always mean “No” for that is what Jesus expects of you. That is what is needed in right relationships with others.

Tomorrow’s reading: Jn 20.11-18

 Lectio: Jn 20.1-9

Meditatio: “Then th either disciple also went in, the one who arrived at the tomb first, and he saw and believed.“ Jn 208

Oratio: O God, how wonderful is the gift of faith!

I remember that first Easter morning, that John and Peter both ran to the tomb when they were told that Jesus’s body was not there and John, arrived first, looked in and so the burial cloths but allowed Peter to enter first and then he wen in and John recognized Jesus had risen based on the burial cloths. What a grace to recognize Jesus in such mundane items. Pray for the grace to recognize Jesus in the myriad ways He is present in this world and especially in the other.

I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what God is saying.

Operatio: reflect, "disciple...saw...believed”; John recognized Jesus had risen based on seeing His burial cloths..Seek the grace to recognize no matter what disguises He assumes, for He is often present in the unreasonable, the irritable and the demanding according to Mother Teresa of Calcutta and you will be greatly blest by your encounter.

 Lectio: Mk 16.1-7

Meditatio: “When the sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, May, the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they may anoint him. “ Mk 16.1 d

Oratio: O God, how You comfort the afflicted!

I remember that first Holy Saturday that the three women went to the tomb to properly prepare Jesus’ body for burial despite their grief; and they were greatly rewarded with the good news that Jesus had been raised - what wonderful news they received! Pray that in times of grief that the consoling news  and the very good news that life is not ended but goes on with God for ever may be kept in mind and if not, share this very, very good news with those who are mourning for in it is the only source of true consolation

I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what God is saying.

Operatio: reflect, "Sabbath...Mary...Mary,..Salome...anoint him”; Jesus was buried in haste; and the three women disciple noted this and at the earliest possible time went with spices to properly prepare Hi body in accord with local customs. Seek the grace to reach out to those who are grieving and do what you can to help them in their grief. Your presence is the most important things you can do and your belief in the resurrection is  most important for you and for them.

Oratio: O God, Your love for us is amazing!

I remember Jesus in the final moments of His crucifixion did not think of Himself but only of His mother and of us. He gave her to John and through John to be our mother through grace. What a blessing for us! In prayer thank Mary for being our Mother and always be mindful of her in how we act.

I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what God is saying.
