8.11.12
Lectio: 1 Kgs 19.4-8
Meditatio: "but the angel of the Lord came back a second time, touched him [Elijah] and ordered him to eat; else the journey will be too long for him.” 1 Kgs 19.7
Oratio: " O God, what You did for Your people of old, You do for us.
I remember You sent Your angel with food for Elijah so he would be strengthened for the journey to Your presence on Mt. Horeb; and You do the same for us today with the Eucharist.
Grant that I may not abstain from taking the Bread of Life but to willingly seek it and eat it so I may successfully journey to Your presence.
I ask these and all things through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.
Contemplatio: Keep silence and remain in recollection for a few minutes.
Operatio: reflect on "Mt. Horeb;" a majestic mountain; Jews believed God was present there; in prayer thank God fo being present to us today in a very wonderful way - in the Holy Eucharist; and seek the grace to receive it often and worthily for it is the food which will sustain me into eternal life.
