6/07/13: Lk 2.41-51
Meditatio: "and when he [Jesus] was twelve years old, they went up according to the festival custom.” Lk 2. 42
Oratio: "O God, how You loved the Jewish people!
I remember Your Son and His mother and Joseph went up every year to celebrate the Passover - a sign of great devotion of a Jewish believer.
Grant that I may be ever mindful of Your love for us and the sign You give us of that love - Your Son in the Eucharist.
I ask these and all things through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.
Contemplatio: Keep silence and remain in recollection for a few minutes.
Operatio: reflect on "went...festival custom”; pilgrimage to Jerusalem; an annual requitement for devout Jews; Jesus and His parents went up every year - a sign of their great devotion to the tenets of Judaism. In prayer may I go up at least weekly to church and receive the Eucharist which is a sign of God’s great love of us - for it is His Son that He gives us; and then become what we eat - Eucharist for others.
