Lectio: Lk 17.7-10
“Is he grateful to that servant because he did what was commanded/” Lk 17.9
“O God, You have made known what we ought to do in this life in order in order to live this life rightly.
I remember Your Son declared our doing what we ought does not make You grateful to us. So Your granting us eternal life is pure gift on Your part - how gracious of You!
Grant that I may always do Your will so that someday I may be gifted with eternal life with You.
I ask this of You who lives and reigns with Jesus and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever. Amen.
Operatio: Reflect on “grateful” - an attitude; a kind outlook towards someone for a word, a deed done that benefits; Resolve to pray often and express my thanksgiving to God for being so gracious for what I give back to Him is what He in fact gave me in the first place. .

Lectio: Lk 17.1-6
“He [Jesus] said to his disciples, ‘Things that cause sin will inevitably occur, but woe to the person through whom they occur’.” Lk 17.1
“O God, You know that sin has become part of the human condition because of Adam and Eve - but that is not Your will.
I remember Jesus taught His disciples that the causes of sin are inevitable but His followers should not be the cause of sin for others.
Grant that I may avoid giving scandal to others and especially to the ’little ones’ - those whose faith is weak.
I ask this of You who lives and reigns with Jesus and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever. Amen.
Operatio: Reflect on “scandal” - bad example, parading evil as good; actions - words or deeds - that are sinful and which impact on the lives of others. Resolve with God’s grace to be always guided by the law of Love so that my actions will uplift rather than take down the spiritual good that exists in all of us.

“Therefore, stay awake, for you know neither the day nor the hour.”Mt 25.13
“O God, You give us time here on earth to make choices that will prepare for our end or the end of time, whichever comes first.
I remember Jesus told a parable about ten bridesmaids, only five of whom chose to be prepared for the coming of the bridegroom and only they entered the wedding banquet.
Grant that I may use the time You give me here and with your graces to make the right choices so that I will be prepared for Your coming and enter with Your Son the heavenly wedding banquet.
I ask this of You who lives and reigns with Jesus and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever. Amen.
Operatio: Reflect on “stay awake: - It is not a physical awakeness; even the five sensible bridesmaids fell asleep while waiting; It is a spiritual awakeness which means to choose the right things to do based on love so that one will be ready to meet Jesus, who is All-Love.

“No servant can serve two masters. He will either hate one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.” Lk 16.15
“O God, You are devoted to us and You expect and You deserve reciprocity on our part.
I remember Jesus warned about trying to serve two masters - You and riches - and He said You can’t.
Grant that I may always give my full allegiance to You.
I ask this of You who lives and reigns with Jesus and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever. Amen.

“And the master commended the dishonest steward for acting prudently.” Lk 16.10
“O God, You gave us the ability to think, to plan, and to act and You want us to use these abilities for our own good and the good others.
I remember Jesus told a parable about a dishonest steward, who realizing that he would be discharged from his job, acted by doing what he could to avoid a future crisis, and Jesus tells us that he acted prudently and commended him.
Grant that I may always act prudently in the actions I take and so please You in doing so and at the same time benefit myself.
I ask this of You who lives and reigns with Jesus and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever. Amen.
Operatio: Reflect on “prudence” - a virtue, right thinking, circumspect, weighs options. Resolve to pray for an increase in the virtue of prudence so that I may act rightly in all matters and especially in spiritual matters.

“In just the same way, I [Jesus] tell you, there will be rejoicing among the angels in heaven over one sinner who repents.” Lk 15.10
“O God, You know we are sinners but You so much want us to turn back to You.
I remember Jesus told two parables - one of a lost sheep, the other of a lost coin - to teach us how precious in Your eyes each one of us despite our sinfulness and the joy we give when we are found again.
Grant that I may always strive to live the Life of Love You have set out for us so that I may always find my way to You.
I ask this of You who lives and reigns with Jesus and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever. Amen.
Operatio: Reflect on “one” - an individual; precious in God’s eyes; a repentant sinner; source of great rejoicing. Resolve to pray the second part of the ‘Hail Mary’ with great fervor for my loved ones, for those I serve and for me.

“And this is the will of the one who sent me, that I should not lose anything of what he gave me, but I should raise it [on] the last day.” Jn 6.37
“O God, You so want Your Son’s ministry to be effective.
I remember Jesus said that it was not Your will that He should lose anyone for whom He was sent but that He should bring them to eternal life.
Grant that I may rejoice in God’s will that I certainly am one for whom Jesus was sent for I am Jesus’ brother through baptism.
I ask this of You who lives and reigns with Jesus and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever. Amen.
Operatio: Reflect on “what He gave me” - all creation; his brothers and sisters; destined for eternal life.
