Lectio :Mt 14.13-21
Meditatio: "and he ordered them to sit down on the grass, Taking the five loaves and two fish, and looking up to heaven, he said the prayer of blessing, broke the loaves, and gave them to the disciples to distribute.” Mt 14.19
Oratio: O God, You how you care for us!
I remember Your Son fed a hungry crowd who were following Him all day with only 5 loaves and two fish and all five thousand were satisfied with plenty left over! How amazing! How kind and generous! In prayer seek our material needs knowing that You are mindful of our needs; and if we do what we are able, You will respond.
I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.
Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what
God is saying to you.
Operatio: reflect: "Taking...looking...blessing...broke....gave”; these action words of Jesus in the miracle of the multiplication of the loaves and fishes, are the same action words He will use when He institutes the Eucharist. He works this sharing of His very self with all who receive the Eucharist on a daily basis - an outstanding and wonderful act of love for our eternal benefit. In prayer seek the grace to receive the Eucharist frequently for it the Bread of Life which will sustain us for all eternity.
