8.15.14

Lectio: :  Mt 19.13-15

Meditatio: "But Jesus said, ‘Let the children come to me, and do not prevent them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these’.” Mt 19.14

Oratio: O God, how gracious and kind You are to all and especially to the have nots.

I remember Your Son rebuked His disciples for not allowing children to come to Him and then He declared that the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these. He then placed His hands upon the children. Children were considered property. They had no rights They were totally dependent on others. In prayer seek the heart of a child and recognize that all -  including heaven - is God’s gift and give Him continuous praise.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what
God is saying to you.

Operatio:  reflect "let children come”’ in Jesus’ time no one would think of bringing children to a noted rabbi. But Jesus showed how wrong that was and He welcomed them and proclaimed the kingdom belongs to them. In prayer seek the grace to work as though all depended on you and pray as all depends on God and you will be welcomed into God’s kingdom.

Tomorrow's reading:  Mt 15.21-28
