10.13.14

Lectio: Lk 11.37-41

Meditatio: "The Pharisees were amazed that he did not observe the prescribed washing before the meal.” Lk 11.38

Oratio: O God, You are interested in what is at the heart and not what is at the surface of our actions.
I remember Jesus denounced the Pharisees who criticized Him for not doing the prescribed washing for they were only interested in the external show of rituals and they were far from where they ought to be internally. So He condemned them as hypocrites. In prayer seek the grace of integrity and do so for the purpose of sincerely praising God and not for the purpose of seeking praise from others. May I make the ascetical practices a part of my ongoing spirituality for they are the best practices to help me be the person  God wants me to be.

I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what
God is saying to you.

Operatio: reflect:"Pharisees...amazed... not observe....washings”; the critics were only  concerned with externals signs of ritual compliance and did not care about the state of one’s heart. For this, Jesus condemned them. Seek the grace to be the same inside and out and as a true child of God should be/ And our Heavenly Father will be greatly pleased and we will be blest.

Tomorrow's reading: Lk 11.42-46
