I remember Naboth was falsely accused and stoned to death so that King Ahab’s desire for Naboth’s land could be satisfied - how inhumane! Grant that I may have the grace of detachment from material things so that greed may not take hold of me and my judgments. I remember Peter told us that grace and peace are ours through Your Son. Grant that I may live as Your Son desires so that in my knowing Him, I will love Him, and in loving Him I will serve Him and Your gifts of grace and peace will be mind. I remember Moses enjoined on Your chosen people to fix their hearts on the great things You did for them and know that You are God and there is no other. Grant that I may be ever grateful for the great things You continuously do for us so that we would know and love You and especially for the gift of Your Son in the Eucharist. I remember Jude told us how - he exhorted us to pray in the holy Spirit. Grant that I may be open to the Holy Spirit’s presence in my life and allow Him to teach me how to pray. I ask this of You, who lives and reigns with Jesus and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever. Amen.” Contemplatio: Keep silence and remain in recollection for a few minutes. Operatio: Reflect on "pray"; lifting up your heart and mind to God; the Holy Spirit - God’s presence in the world; teaches if we allow Him. I remember Peter told the early Christians that love covers a multitude of sins- how kind of You! Grant that I may always love the other and most of all, You, who are All-Love. I ask this of You, who lives and reigns with Jesus and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever. Amen.” Contemplatio: Keep silence and remain in recollection for a few minutes. Operatio: Reflect on "love;"; an emotion; an act of the intellect; the object is the other; the goal to seek the other’s good for the other’s sake and not for what we might get out of it. Oratio:"O God, You do not want us to live in a vale of tears. I remember Your prophet, Zephaniah, told the people to shout for joy for the Lord is in their midst! Grant that I may show similar exuberance because the Lord is in our midst in His real and personal presence in the Eucharist. Alleluia!
