5/20/13

 Mk    9.30-37

Meditatio: “Then he [Jesus] sat down, called the twelve, and said to them, ‘If anyone wishes to be first, he shall be last of all and the servant of all’.” Mk 9.35

Oratio:  "O God, Your ways are not our ways but they make so much sense!

I remember when the disciples argued about greatness, Jesus simply told them if you want to be first, serve all - simple but so profound!

Grant that I may set aside ambition and be content to serve for that is the way of wisdom and Your way.

I ask these and all things through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with the  Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: Keep silence and remain in recollection for a few minutes.

Operatio: reflect “first...servant”; Jesus came as a the Good Shepherd, He was the greastest; He was the epitome of service; in prayer seek the grace to imitate the shepherd role of Jesus and that will be enough for us.

Tomorrow's reading: Mk 9.38-40
