5/28/13     Mk 10.32-45

Meditatio: “whoever wishes to be first among you will be your servant.” Mk10.44

Oratio: “O God, Your ways are wonderful and should be imitated by us for our happiness.

I remember Jesus declared that if we want to be great, serve others and do not lord it over others - how counter to our natural tendencies!

Grant that I may have the grace to apply the wisdom of Jesus to my way of living for through His ways I will achieve my true greatness.

I ask these and all things through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with the  Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: Keep silence and remain in recollection for a few minutes.

Operatio: reflect on "first...slave of all”; prestige; greatness through service; that is Jesus’ way. In prayer seek the grace to make service of others my way, too; and paradoxically it will satisfy my psychological need to achieve.

Tomorrow's reading: Mk 10.46-52
