Lectio: Mt 6.1-6, 16-18
Meditatio: ”[But] take care not to perform righteous deeds in order that people may see them.; otherwise, you will have no recompense from your heavenly Father.” M6.6.1
Oratio: O God, You want us to perform the ascetical works for You alone and not for praise of others.
I remember Jesus made this clear when as part of His sermon on the mount, He told the people that if they want recompense from You, they need to do righteous deeds in a way as not to be seen.
Grant that I may use this Lent wisely and perform in a more intense way - praying, almsgiving and fasting - as my way of giving You honor and glory and my way of striving to reform my life and not for public acclaim; and You will be pleased and I will be blest.
I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.
Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what.
God is saying to you
Operatio: reflect"not perform...see”; God does not want us to do righteous deeds for praise by others but only to give honor and glory to Him; and to enable us to reform our lives; in prayer seek the grace to use this Lent to reform my life and to do it in a way that is not noticeable and God will be pleased and I will be blest.
