9.07.14

Lectio:  Mt 1.1-23

Meditatio: “Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary. Of her was born Jesus who is called the Messiah.” Mt 1.16

Oratio: O God, Your ways are not our ways. We see this in the genealogy of Jesus where only three women are mentioned by name but the last mentioned will play the most important role in salvation history and not the many men who are mentioned..

I remember that Matthew identified Mary as the mother of Jesus and her husband, Joseph, who lineage was from King David. Uunder the custom of the day, the child took his lineage from the male side - so rightly , Jesus, is the Son of David as foretold by the prophets and the child of Mary, whose birth we celebrate today   In prayer seek the grace to always be aware that our God is a God of mystery but also a God of love and seek to love Him with our whole heart, mind and strength.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what
 God is saying to you.

Operatio: reflect: "Joseph...Mary....Jesus”; this human trinity leads us wonderfully to the Divine Trinity. Seek the grace to always keep Jesus, Mary and Joseph, the Holy Family,  in our minds and on our lips and one day we will be with them and celebrate the birthday of Mary in the glory of heaven.                                   .

Tomorrow's reading: Lk 6.12-19
