9.21.14

Lectio:  Lk 8.16-18

Meditatio: "No one who lights a lamp conceals it with a vessel or sets it under a bed; rather, he places it on a lampstand so that those who enter may see the Light.” Lk 8.16

Oratio: O God, You want all to know You and come to You so that You may gift them with eternal life.

I remember Jesus told His followers a parable of the lamp to reinforce the duty of all who hear the word of God, to manifest it to others -like a light. He wanted all to hear and live by the Good News. In prayer seek the grace to let the light of faith shine forth so that those who do not yet know the Good News will come to know it by my living a life of selfless love.

I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what
God is saying to you.

Operatio: reflect: "lamp...conceals....placess....lampstand”; our faith is not just for ourselves but it is for all and we must not hide our faith but openly practice so they will know we are Christians by our love. Seek the grace to avoid being a closet Christian, but rather a practicing Christian, so that others who do not yet know the Good News will come in contact with it through us for that is Christ’s desire.

Tomorrow's reading: Lk 8.19-21
