6/01/13: Lk 11b-17

Meditatio: “Then taking  the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he said the blessing over them, broke them, and gave them to the disciples to set before the crowd.” Lk 9.16

Oratio: “O God, how marvelous are Your ways!

I remember Your Son responded to the hunger of the crowd by feeding them with five loaves and two fish.

Grant that I may ever rejoice for Jesus feeds us each day with His very self in the Eucharist.

I ask these and all things through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with the  Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: Keep silence and remain in recollection for a few minutes.

Operatio: reflect on "taking... blessing...broke.... gave”; Luke’s  action words in the miracle of the loaves and fishes; These are the same action words that Jesus used in instituting the Eucharist; in prayer may I receive the Eucharist often and become what I eat - Christ for others; and then allow Christ to use me to reach out to others so that they, too, may be fed by the miracle of His love.

Tomorrow's reading: Mk 12.1-12
