6/02/13: Mk 12.1-12

Meditatio: “They [the religious elite] were ready to arrest him [Jesus], but they feared the crowd, for they realized that he had addressed the parable to them. So they left him and went away.” Mk 12. 12

Oratio: “O God, You guide us in marvelous ways to our eternal home.

I remember Your Son spoke in parables so that His audience would have to think of the message and apply it without being publically condemned for their wrongheaded actions.

Grant that I may read the parables of Scripture as teaching stories and look for the message and then apply it to my life for they are meant to provide sure guidance to eternal life.

I ask these and all things through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with the  Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: Keep silence and remain in recollection for a few minutes.

Operatio: reflect on "parable”; a teaching story, message is not in the surface line of the story but in its underlying meaning; designed to make us think to discover the massage but when found, provides solid guidance; in prayer seek the grace to apply the message of the parables to my life.

Tomorrow's reading: Mk 12.13-17
