6/09/13: Mt 5:1-12                          

Meditatio: "When he [Jesus] saw the crowds, he went up the mountain, and after he sat down, his disciples came to him. He began teaching them, saying” Mk 5. 1-2

Oratio: "O God, Your Son made it quite clear as to what we should do if we wish to achieve eternal life.

I remember at the very beginning of His public ministry he first topic He preached not only to His disciples but to the large crowd that was following Him - the Beatitudes.

Grant that we may strive to live in accord with the Beatitudes as they are the framework, or Magna Charta for right living.

I ask these and all things through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: Keep silence and remain in recollection for a few minutes.

Operatio:  " reflect on"Jesus...teaching" ; Jesus announces the Beatitudes as He began His famous sermon on the mount; in prayer ask for the grace to live by the Beatitudes knowing it is a matter of having the right attitude towards issues of self and others.
