Lectio: Mt 28.8-15
Meditatio: “The soldiers took the money and did as instructed. And this story has circulated among the Jews to the present day.” Mt 28.15
Oratio: O God, how tragice that the religious leaders bribed the soldiers, the eye witnesses to the resurrection, and denied the people this greatest of all miracles that is meant for their salvation.
I remember that first Easter morning that the guards at the tomb witnessed the resurrection but when the religious leaders heard their report, they bribed the guards to tell a story of the disciples stealing His body while they were asleep. That story was the official line that deceived so many good Jews. Pray to be open and truthful in all one’s dealing so that no one is lead astray by one’s falsehoods.
I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.
Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what God is saying.
Operatio: reflect, "soldiers....money...this story...circulated”; how many missed out on the greatest miracle ever - Jesus’ resurrection - because the religious leaders wanted to hold onto power! Too many! Seek the grace of integrity and let your “Yes” always mean “Yes” and your “No” always mean “No” for that is what Jesus expects of you. That is what is needed in right relationships with others.
Tomorrow’s reading: Jn 20.11-18
