4.12.15
Lectio: Jn 3.1-8
Meditatio: "Jesus answered and said to him, ‘Amen, amen, I say to you, no one can see the kingdom of God without being born from above’.” Jn 3.3.
Oratio: O God, You have been most generous to us by giving us an eventual abode in Your kingdom with little effort on our part.
I remember Jesus told Nicodemus that you must be reborn again from above in order to enter the kingdom of God. Jesus went on to tell that this rebirth occurs through water and the Spirit. The Apostle Paul makes it clear in his epistles that this rebirth occurs through the waters of Baptism during which the Spirit comes upon the one being baptized. Pray that all whose lives you touch are gifted with Baptism and that they lives in accord with their rebirth as children of God.
I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.
Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what God is saying.
Operatio: reflect: "kingdom...without...born....above”; Jesus made it clear the need for a rebirth in order to enter the kingdom; and that rebirth occurs through Baptism - a Baptism in fact or a Baptism of desire. Seek the grace to reflect the life of a child of God so that you show you recognize the great gift given to you and so that others may be influenced by you and seek the waters of Baptism.
Tomorrow's reading: Jn 3.7b-15
