4.19.15

 Lectio:  Jn 6.22-29

Meditatio: "Do not work for food that perishes, but for the food that endures for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on him the Father God has set his seal.” Jn 6.27

Oratio: O God, Your Son worked so hard to draw people to You.

I remember that He upbraided people for seeking Him for the wrong reasons - for food for this life and not for food that is for eternal life. But that did not stop Your Son from continuing to minister to them. Pray that one’s belief in Jesus is based on true gratitude for all He did for us and not simply for what one might personally get out of it.

I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what God is saying.

Operatio:  reflect:"work...food...endures....eternal life;” Jesus drew large crowds but many came for the wrong reasons - they wanted to be fed with earthly food; He wanted to feed them with Heavenly food and He would have to give up His very life to do so. He did out of His great love for us. Seek the grace to show one’s gratitude for all that Jesus did by keeping the commandments which are summed up in “love” for that is the best way to show it.

 Tomorrow's reading: Jn 6.30-35
