5/27/12 Lectio: 1 Pt 1.3-9 Medtitatio: “Although you have not seen him [Jesus] you love him, even though you do not see him now yet believe in him, you rejoice with an indescribable and glorious joy.” 1 Pt 3.8 Oratio: "O God, seeing is not necessary for believing as the early Christians found out. I remember Peter told the Gentile audience who had not seen Jesus that they believe and they rejoice with great joy and they love Jesus. Grant that I may readily accept the testimony of those who have seen Jesus and rejoice that the faith has been handed down for I have come to believe that eternal life is to know Jesus and the One who sent Him. Jn 3.1-2 I ask this of You, who lives and reigns with Jesus and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever. Amen.” Contemplatio: Keep silence and remain in recollection for a few minutes. Operatio: reflect on "love without seeing”; love is based on faith; it is so based on the love of human beings for one another; it is the basis for our love of Jesus. In the prayer thank God for making His Son known to us through others and for the gift of faith in Him so that my love for Him is real and joyful. Tomorrow’s reading: 1 Pt 1.10-16
