4.02.14

Lectio:  Jn 5.31-47
Meditatio: "But I [Jesus] have testimony greater than John’s. The works that the Father gave me to accomplish, these works that I perform testify on my behalf that the Father has sent me.” Jn 5.36

Oratio: "O God, You know that believing is so hard for us to and so You sent Your Son to proclaim Your will.

I remember that Jesus asserted that the works - the miracles - He performs clearly show that the Father sent Him; yet the religious elite, who should have been open to these signs, closed their minds and refused to believe - how sad! In prayer seek the grace to accept the words of Jesus for they are the way to  eternal life.

I  ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what.
God is saying to you

Operatio: “testimony....works...testify”; words are easy to misunderstand but deeds are not; and they the best evidence of a person’s identity and purpose; in Jesus case He did many healings, miraculous feedings, and even raising the dead - so far beyond human ability - and a clear sign that He had been given or had divine power; and with such testimony His words then are spirit and truth and should be accepted.  Jesus made it clear He had come to do His Father’s will. In prayer seek the grace to not only accept Jesus’ words but to put them into practice for they are the way, the truth and our life.

Tomorrow's reading: Jn 7.1-2, 10, 25-30
