4.17.14

Lectio:Jn 18.1-19.42

Meditatio: "Standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary of Magdala.” Jn 18.25

Oratio: "O God, how strong and edifying is a mother’s love!

I remember standing a the foot of the cross of Jesus was His mother and two other very supportive women, each named Mary, and only one of His men disciples - John. How tragic for His disciples that they were so weak when He needed their presence most. May I always be there for others in their dire need even though I cannot help them but simply be present to them for that is what our mother, Mary through grace, wants of us.

I  ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what.
God is saying to you

Operatio: “his mother...Mary the wife of Clopas and Mary of Magdala”; only three were gathered at the foot of His cross - the three Marys. I am sure their presence was of great comfort to Jesus in His extreme agony; in prayer seek the grace to be present to those in their  need for that is Mary’s way; that is Jesus’ way; and that must be our way too.

Tomorrow's reading: Mt 28.1-10
