4.23.14

4/23/14

Lectio: Lk 24.35-48                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         Meditatio: “And he [Jesus] said to them, ‘Thus it is written that the Messiah would suffer and rise from the dead on the third day and that repentance, for the forgiveness of sins, would be preached in his name to all the nations, beginning in Jerusalem’.” Lk 24.46-47

Oratio: "O God, how badly we treated Your Son and how wonderfully He treated us!

I remember the religious elite of Jerusalem caused Your Son to suffer a horrible death on the cross; and Your Son’s response was to charge His disciples to preach repentance to all the nations - how merciful and generous on His part! No one could blame Him for giving up on us for we rejected Him and punished him so violently.  In prayer may I always acknowledge the God of love, the God of forgiveness, the God of hope, the God who fulfills my deepest longings..

I  ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what.
God is saying to you

Operatio: “suffer...rise.... forgiveness...to all”: we crucified our Lord; yet He rose and came back to us so that forgiveness of sins would be possible to all nations. In prayer thank Jesus for loving us so and for the grace to willingly forgive those who have offended us, totally, as He did.

Tomorrow's reading: Jn 21.1-14
