4.16.14

Lectio: Lk 4.16-21

Meditatio: "He [Jesus] said to them, ‘Today this scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearing’.” Lk 4.21

Oratio: "O God, how fickle we are!

I remember Jesus read from the scroll of Isaiah and then declared that today this passage was fulfilled in their hearing and they spoke highly of Him but almost instantly began to doubt Him because they thought He was Joseph’s son!  How unfortunate for them! How wonderful for us that our forebearers received the light of faith and held fast to it.

I  ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what.
God is saying to you

Operatio: “scripture...fulfilled”; Jesus declared that He was  anointed and brought glad tidings to the poor, the captives, the blind and to the oppressed, and a jubilee year to all - how generous on His part! How ungrateful His audience turned out to be! In prayer seek the grace to have a grateful heart and ever rejoice in the gifts that Jesus has given to us and use them so  that one day we will be with Him in the eternal kingdom.

Tomorrow's reading: Jn 18.1-19.42
