4.06.14

Lectio:  Jn 8.1-11
Meditatio: "But when they continued to ask him [Jesus], he straightened up and said to them, ‘Let the one who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her’.” Jn 8.7

Oratio: "O God, how merciful You are and how You want us to be the same.

I remember when the religious elite brought a woman caught in adultery and to test Jesus asked Him  what is His position for their law said she should be stoned. And Jesus simply said that the one who is without sin, should cast the first stone.  In so doing, He made it clear, no one is sinless and no one should punish another - that is not what this life is all about.

I  ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what.
God is saying to you

Operatio: “one...without sin..first to throw...stone”; we are so quick to punish when it the other person; but Jesus made it clear, punishment for sin is not ours but rather forgiveness and striving not to sin it what God wants of us. In prayer seek to avoid the role of a punisher but the role of an enabler so that others may more readily reform their lives.

Tomorrow's reading: Jn 8.21-30
