6.05.14

Lectio:  Jn 21. 15-19

Meditatio: “He {Jesus] said this signifying the kind of death he [Peter] would glorify God.
And when he [Jesus] said this, he said to him [Peter]’Follow me’.” Jn 21.19

Oratio: O God, You readily forgive us our sins but You do want us to amend our lives.

I remember Jesus elicited a threefold confession of love from Peter who had denied Jesus three times and then surprisingly He told Peter to ‘Follow me.’ But it is not surprising then we realize that when we confess our sins, it means we must once again follow the way of the Lord and it is not burdensome. May we accept God’s  grace and avoid serious sin; but if we fail, may we accept the grace to once again follow Christ.

I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what
God is saying to you.

Operatio: reflect: "Follow me"; Jesus’ command to all who confess their sins for His way, is at the heart of an amended life. In prayer seek the grace to love always and to avoid the near occasions of sin.

Tomorrow's reading: Jn 21. 20-25
