1.19.14

Lectio:   Mk 2.18-22

Meditatio: “Jesus answered them, ‘Can the wedding guests fast while the bridegroom is with them? As long as they have the bridegroom with them they cannot fast’.” Mk 2.19

Oratio: O God, what a wonderful way in which You constituted the people of God with the coming of Your Son.

I remember  Jesus identified Himself as the Bridegroom and by implication the people of God, His Church, is the bride. What a wonderful metaphor! What a source of the great dignity with which He holds us.

Grant that I may remember that I am a member of His Church, the very Bride of Christ! May I always have the grace to do my part to be a worthy member of the Body of Christ so that His Bride may always be praised and honored by all whose lives I touch.

I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what.
God is saying to you

Operatio:  reflect: "guests fast...bridegroom”; the people of God are likened unto guests at a wedding and Jesus is likened to the Bridegroom; and the people of God collectively is His Bride. In prayer thank our Heavenly Father for bestowing such great dignity on us and seek the grace to be worthy guests both now and forever.

Tomorrow's reading: Mk 2.23-28
