Lectio: Mt 4.1-11
Meditatio: “and he [devil] said to him [Jesus], ‘All these I shall give you, if you prostrate yourself and worship me.” Mt 4.9
Oratio: "O God, You have revealed to us why the devil tempts us.
I remember Jesus in rebuffing the devil refused to accept all the kingdoms of the world if He would simply worship the devil - In his very words the devil exposed his motives for all temptations - he wants to be our God for You alone are entitled to worship.
Grant that I may always be alert to the subtleties of the devil’s temptations and give worship to You alone.
I ask this of You, who lives and reigns with Jesus and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever.
Amen.”
Contemplatio: Keep silence and remain in recollection for a few minutes.
Operatio: Reflect on the current temptations which confront me. Am I being offered apparent good for the Real Good? Pray for the grace to live in accordance with God’s words alone.
