Lectio: Mt 5.17-19

Meditatio: “Do not think I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish the law but to fulfill it.” Mt 5.17

Oratio: "O God, we make things complex but Your ways are not.

I remember by the time of Christ the Jewish religion had over 600 rules and regulations; but Jesus did not tell His followers not to abide by them; instead He gave them a simple way to comply. He told them to love God and love their neighbors for these two commandments sum up the whole of the law and the prophets.

Grant that I may always let love be my guide in my relationship as that is most pleasing to You.

I ask this of You, who lives and reigns with Jesus and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever.
Amen.”

Contemplatio: Keep silence and remain in recollection for a few minutes.

Operatio: Reflect on how love frees me from a strait jacket of rules and enhances my relationship with God and others.

Tomorrow’s reading - Lk 11.14-23
