Lectio: Mt 6.7-15
Meditatio: “In praying, do not babble like the pagans, who think they will be heard because of their many words.” Mt 6.7
Oratio: "O God, You know us more than we know ourselves and You certainly know our needs.
I remember Jesus, in telling us how to pray, told us that You know our needs even before we pray and so we should not babble on about them like the pagans do; but simply turn to You with a simple but profound prayer: the ‘ Our Father.’
Grant that I may acknowledge Your omniscience and pray to You as Jesus taught.
I ask this of You, who lives and reigns with Jesus and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever.
Amen.”
Contemplatio: Keep silence and remain in recollection for a few minutes.
Operatio: Reflect on my prayer life - my written list is long for those whom I pray for each day. Am I just babbling? Or are these list useful? Pray to discern the right answer.
