3/16/11

Lectio: Mt 7.7-12

Meditatio: “If you, then, who are wicked know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good things to those who ask him.” Mt 7.11

Oratio: "O God, You want to bestow good things on us.

I remember Jesus in preaching about prayer said that You would give good things to those who ask You - how kind and generous of You!
Grant that I may approach You with confidence and ask what I perceive that I need and allow You to respond with good things for me.

I ask this of You, who lives and reigns with Jesus and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever.
Amen.”

Contemplatio: Keep silence and remain in recollection for a few minutes.

Operatio: Reflect on my prayer life. Do I see it as primarily about me or about God? Strive to be more aware of God and His goodness when I pray and to approach him like a child.
Tomorrow’s reading - Mt 5.20-26
