8.05.13

Lectio: 8.05.13

 Lk 9.28b-36

Meditatio: “And behold, two men were conversing with him, Moses and Elijah.” Lk 9.30

Oratio: O God, You made it to very clear that Jesus was Your Son in His transfiguration on Mt. Tabor.

I remember Moses and Elijah appeared with Him and His Apostles, Peter, James and John looked on.

Grant that I may be ever mindful that we have the fulfillment of the Law and the Prophets in Your Son which You so clearly manifested to us in the wonder of the Transfiguration. May I always adhere to the message of the Good News for in it is all that is True, all that is right, all that is for my well being both now and hereafter. I ask all these things through Jesus Christ who lives and reigns with You, and the Holy Spirit. One God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what God is saying to you.

Operatio: reflect on "conversing with him”; the Transfiguration was not simply a passive appearance but an active one in which Jesus spoke with Moses, the symbol of the Old Law and Elijah, the symbol of the Prophets, and in the concluding part, God, the Father, proclaims that Jesus is His Son and we should listen to Him. In prayer seek the grace to listen to Jesus’ message and put it into practice for it is the way to eternal life.

Tomorrow's reading: Mt 15.21-28
