8.17.13

Lectio:  Lk 12.49-53

Meditatio: “I [ Jesus] have come to set the earth on fire, and how I wish it were already blazing!” Lk 14.49

Oratio: O God, You so much want us to come to You.

I remember Jesus declared that He had come to set the earth on fire - with what? With love for that is how we, as Your children,  best image You for You are all Love.

Grant that I may live and act as Your child and show it in my love for You, others and self for that is how Your Son taught us to fulfill all the laws and the prophets.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what God is saying to you.

Operatio: reflect on "set ...earth...on fire”; the fire of love; Jesus started it with His coming and showed it in His life and death and resurrection; a fire to overcome self-centeredness; a fire to purify us so that we would be able to come back to You; in prayer seek the grace to be a flaming light to others so that others may experience Christ’s burning love for them.

Tomorrow's reading: Mt 19.16-22
