9.09.13

Lectio:  Lk 6.12-19

Meditatio: “When day came, he [Jesus] called his disciples to himself, and from them he chose Twelve, whom he also named apostles.” Lk 6.13

Oratio: O God, Your Son showed very clearly the importance of prayer.

I remember before He chose the Twelve, he spent the night in prayer - in this He showed how important prayer is for it puts us in intimate touch with You - our loving and caring God.

Grant that I always strive to say my daily prayers, beginning with the Morning Offering, so that my entire day is a prayer to You, who are All Good and deserving of all my love.

I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what
 God is saying to you..

Operatio: reflect on "Twelve....apostles”; the 12 selected were with Jesus from the beginning and at His Ascension they would receive the great commission to go out and bring the Good News to all the nations and in this they  earned the title that Jesus gave to them when He called them; and may I always rejoice in the fact that we have an unbroken chain of successors to these apostles to this very day to assure us of the revealed truths that are so important to us for our salvation.

Tomorrow's reading: Lk 6.20-26
