9.19.13

Lectio: Lk 8.1-3

Meditatio: “Joanna, the wife of Herod’s steward Chuza, Susanna, and many others who provided for them out of their resources.” Lk 8.3

Oratio: O God, how You hold Your creatures in great respect!

I remember Jesus in His missionary work allowed women to come with Him and His disciples - contrary to the culture of His time.

Grant that may always be respectful of all of God’s creation and remember that God has made all equal in His eyes.

I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what
God is saying to you.

Operatio: reflect on "many...provided...resources”; women were important to the spread of Good News in its infancy for they provided the material support for Jesus’ itinerant ministry; in prayer thank God for giving all His creatures a place in His eternal Kingdom and always show respect and gratitude for the unsung but important roles which women played in the initial spread of the Good News and in the important roles that they continue t play for we all beneficiaries of them.

Tomorrow's reading: Mt 9.9-13
