9.22.13

Lectio:  Lk 8.16-18

Meditatio: “No one who lights a lamp conceals it with a vessel or sets it under a bed; rather. He places it on a lampstand so those who enter may see the light.” Lk 8.16

Oratio: O God, You want all to hear and heed the Good News that Your Son proclaimed.

I remember Jesus told the parable of the lamp and the point is that the message received is to be made known and not hidden and that has been the mission of His followers ever since.

Grant that I may make known the Good News by the life I live so that to the best of my ability I manifest Christ to others.

I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what
God is saying to you.

Operatio: reflect on "lamp...conceal...; lampstand”; lamp symbolizes our faith; it is to shine forth and not be kept under wraps so that more and more will come to know the Good News and abide by it; in prayer seek the grace to spread the Good News by word and especially by deeds so that others will come to know Christ’s saving message.

Tomorrow's reading: Lk 8.19-21
