Lectio: Mt 17.9a, 10-13
Meditatio: “but I tell you Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him but did to him whatever they pleased.” Mt 17.12a
Oratio: "O God, our pride so often gets in our way and prevents us from recognizing what is meant for our good.
I remember the Jews failed to recognize John the Baptist and more tragically failed to recognize Jesus as the Messiah.
Grant that I may always have a humble heart when it comes to matters of Your kingdom.
I ask this of You, who lives and reigns with Jesus and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever.
Amen.”
Contemplatio: Keep silence and remain in recollection for a few minutes.
Operatio: Reflect on “recognize” - to know; to see but not see is its opposite; Pray for the eyes of faith so that I may recognize all which is meant for my salvation.
Tomorrow’s reading - Jn 1.6-8, 19-28
