12/23/11
Lectio: Lk 1.67-79
Meditatio: “to give his people knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins.” Lk 1. 77
Oratio: "O God, we don’t earn salvation as it is a gift from You.
I remember Zechariah in his canticle about his son, John, revealed that salvation was a matter of forgiveness of our sins.
Grant that I may turn away from my ways and turn back to God’s ways seeking His forgiveness of my sins and He will readily grant it.
I ask this of You, who lives and reigns with Jesus and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever.
Amen.”
Contemplatio: Keep silence and remain in recollection for a few minutes.
Operatio: Reflect on “salvation” - a wonderful, eternal destiny; a gift; a humble and contrite heart; a heart filled with selfless love. In prayer humbly ask the Lord to forgive my sins knowing He will readily do so and resolve to make frequent use of the sacrament of Reconciliation as only through this sacrament am I given a clear sign that my sins are forgiven.
