12/18/11

Lectio: Lk 1.5-25

Meditatio: “He [John the Baptist] will go before [Jesus] in the spirit of Elijah.” Lk 1.17a

Oratio: "O God, You know too often are focus is on the here and the now and we miss out on Your presence and activities in this world - and, so, from time to time You do things to get out attention.

I remember You sent John the Baptist in the spirit of Elijah to go to Your chosen people and prepare them for the coming of the day of the Lord - but sadly most did not listen.

Grant that I may be open to the Elijah moments in my life and repent and turn back to You.

I ask this of You, who lives and reigns with Jesus and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever.
Amen.”

Contemplatio: Keep silence and remain in recollection for a few minutes.

Operatio: Reflect on “spirit of Elijah” - a powerful reformer; a caller to righteousness; a caller to repent, an inspirational preacher like John Paul II and Benedict XVI. Resole to pray and accept the grace to be attentive to the God at work in the here and the now and respond to His call to do my part in His plans for all of us.

Tomorrow’s reading - Lk 1.26-38
