10.10.15

Lectio: Mk 10.17-30                                         

Meditatio: “Jesus, looking at him, loved him and said to him, Go, sell what you have, and give to the poor and you will have treasure in heaven.; then come, follow me. At that statement his face fell, and he went away sad, for he had many possessions.” Mk 10.21-22
                                                         
Oratio: O God, Jesus made it clear that we cannot attain to eternal life on our own terms when He encountered a young man who kept all the commandments from his youth but who could not give up his possessions, and follow Jesus, for the youth went away sad with his encounter with Jesus. Pray to realize our ticket to heaven is doing the will of God which is expressed in the Great Law of Love.

I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You  and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence & meditate on the selected passage and hear what  God speaks to you,

Operatio: reflect: "have...give...poor...follow me”; the rich young man asked Jesus what he must do to inherit eternal life and Jesus reply that he sell what he has, give to the poor and follow Him; but the young man was trapped by his possessions and went away sad. Seek the grace to be ever mindful of others in their needs and do what you are able to help them and always put Jesus’ teachings into practice in your life for that is the way to eternal life.
