9.30 & 10.01.15

9.30.15

Lectio:  Lk 10.1-12

Meditatio: “carry no money bag, no sack, no sandals, and greet no one along the way." Lk 10.4

Oratio: O God, Your Son's instructions to the disciples He sent out on mission seem strange to the modern ear and especially take nothing with you and speak to no one as you are going. But these instructions were intended to convey the utmost importance of their mission. Pray that material things will not deter from doing your part to spread the Good News.

I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence & meditate on the selected passage and hear what  God speaks to you,

Operation: reflect: "greet no one"; this instruction is intended to keep the missionary on focus and not to indicate rudeness on the part of the disciple. Seek the grace to be singleminded in pursuit of God's will for that is the focus that is most effective for mission.

Tomorrow's reading: Mt 18.1-5

10.01.15

Lectio:  Mt 18.1-5

Meditatio: “And he said, 'amen, amen I say to you, unless you become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven'." Mt 18.3

Oratio: O God, Your Son made it clear that admittance to heaven depends upon our becoming like children. Pray that I may have the innocence of a child, and openness, accepting and without guile for these are the characteristics of a child that will result in our being admitted to kingdom.

I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence & meditate on the selected passage and hear what  God speaks to you,

Operation: reflect: "unless...like children...not enter"; we must have the demeanor of children if we wish to be part of God's kingdom.  Seek the grace to be child-like in one's character for therein lies our ticket to heaven.

Tomorrow's reading: Lk 10.17-2
