10.13.15

Lectio: Lk 11. 42-46

Meditatio: “And he said, ‘Woe also to you scholars of the law! You impose on people heavy burdens hard to carry, but you yourselves do not lift one finger to touch them’.” lk 11.46
Oratio: O God, Jesus was very upset with the religious leaders of His day for placing so many burdens on people as part of the Holiness Code and doing nothing to help the people. In prayer seek the right attitude and relationship to God and others for therein lies the foundation of true religion which gives God the praise and worship and thanks that He deserves.

I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You  and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence & meditate on the selected passage and hear what  God speaks to you,

Operatio: reflect: "Woe...scholars...law...impose...burdens... not lift...finger”; Jesus warning to the lawyers applied to all the religious leaders for their multiplying the duties of the people though the Holiness Code and failing to help the people in their relationship with God. Seek the grace to relate rightly to the Lord and as espoused by the Catholic Church, the guardian  of Jesus’ revelation.

Tomorrow's reading: Lk 11.47-54
