Health Care Reform

The Senate version of Health Care Reform has many flaws and it fatally flawed by allowing federal funding of abortions - life and death issue. The present strategy of Congress is to have the House pass the Senate version “as is” and send it to the President for signature. Then through the Budget Reconciliation Process address the budget inequities. However, that process cannot address the issue of abortion nor many other non-budgetary flaws in the Senate version. Therefore, it is incumbent to have the House of Representatives turn down the Senate passed version. The House is expected to vote the week of March 14th.

What can you do? The National Right to Life Organization has web page which tells you how to contact your congressman and 2 Senators.

Go to www.NRLActionCenter.com and take a few minutes to use the form there to send messages to your U.S. House member and him or her to oppose the Senate passed version of health care as it is fatally flawed as it applies to abortion. You can also use the message that is already there or you can modify it. One click and it is off to your Congressman, Patrick Murphy. Remind Congressman Murphy that his vote against the Senate Version will show his conviction for the right to life of the unborn.

Your action is needed now! The Speaker of the House is presently in the process of rounding up the undecided votes so as to pass it in the House. Your action may very well keep her from getting the needed undecided votes.

Lectio - Jn 4.43-54

Meditatio: “Jesus said to him, ‘You may go; you son will live.’ The man believed what Jesus said to him and left." Jn 4.50

Oratio: "O God, you know our need for sings that you exist and care about us.

I remember Jesus gave us many signs, seven of which are recorded in the Gospel of John, including the healing of the royal official’s son with His word alone.

Grant that I may be alert to the signs of your presence especially in the selfless love that is around me.

I ask this of you, who lives and reigns with Jesus and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever. Amen.”

Contemplatio: Keep silence and remain in recollection for a few minutes.

Operatio: Today, at its end I will look back and identify signs of your presence.

Note: Tomorrow’s selection is from Jn 5.1-16
