12.22.12

Lectio: Mi 5.1-4a

Meditatio: "But you, Bethlehem-Ephrathah, too small to be among the clans of Judah. From you shall come forth for me one who is to be the ruler of Israel; whose origin is from of old, from ancient times." Mi 5.1

Oratio: "O God, You promise and You keep Your promises.

I remember Your prophet, Micah, foretold that the savior of Israel and indeed of the whole world, would come forth from Bethlehem and 600 years later He did.
Grant that I may rest secure in Your promise that we will rise again because Your Son has promised we would if we believe in Him.
I ask these and all things through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: Keep silence and remain in recollection for a few minutes.

Operatio: reflect on "Bethlehem"; Christ’s birthplace; very small place then; and a small place today but the birthplace of our Savior; in prayer thank God for sending His Son to save us and for the grace to accept His Son’s call to reform our lives in accordance with the great law of Love.
Tomorrow's reading: Is 62.1-5
