2.21.15

Lectio: Mk 1.12-15

Meditatio: “At once, the Spirit drove him out into the desert.” Mk 1.12

Oratio: O God, Your preparation of Your Son for public ministry appears to be quite odd.

I remember the same Spirit who hovered over Your Sons as He emerged from the waters of His baptism at which He heard you proclaim: ‘This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”, drove Him out into the desert to be tempted by Satan. In prayer thank God for preparing His Son so well for He accomplished His mission - our redemption through the cross and overcame our greatest obstacle - death aand achieved true freedom for us..

I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what
 God is saying to you.

Operatio: reflect:"Spirit...drove him”; although the Spirit drove Him to a place of danger and a place without family support, in this awful place Jesus reflected on what it meant to be the Son of the Heavenly Father and on His mission. After 40 days of fasting Jesus understood and was well prepared for His mission - our redemption which He achieved through the cross. Seek the grace to rejoice in the Lord always for by His cross and resurrection, He has set us free and He has open the gates of Paradise to us where we will enter one day if we, too, take up our cross and follow Him.
