2.27.15

2.25.15

 Lectio: Mt 7.7-11

Meditatio: "If you then, who are wicked, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Heavenly Father give good things to those who ask him.z" Mt 7.11

Oratio: O God, You are the most loving of fathers.

I remember Your Son made it clear that if we ask You for anything in His name, You will give it to us for You know our needs better than we do, and You will give what us what is good.  Pray that you approach the Heavenly Father with a will and the asking is in tune with the will of Jesus, and the Heavenly will answer your prayers.

I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what God is saying to you.

Operatio: reflect:"wicked...give good...much more...Father give good"; Jesus made it clear that the Heavenly Father will answer our prayers with good things.  Seek the grace to pray as Jesus taught and the Our Father will be most effective for us.

 Tomorrow's reading: Mt 5.20-26

2.26.15

 Lectio: Mt 5.21-26

Meditatio: "You have heard it was said by your ancestors, "You shall not kill; sand whoever kills shall be liable to judgment.  But I say to You, whoever is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment." Mt 5.21, 22a

Oratio: O God, You give us emotions to help us but at times we used the energy that our emotions give us to do what is wrong.

I remember Jesus made it clear when He spoke of anger towards our brother that it could cause us to be liable in the same way we are liable if we kill someone. In prayer seek to use the energy that the emotion of anger gives to defend the good, the little ones, to right injustice; and it will go well with you.

I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what God is

 saying.

Operatio: reflect: " kill...judgment...angry...judgment"; anger of itself is a feeling and not a choice, therefore the mere feeling of anger is not I a sin; but it is one of the chief reasons we commit sin because of the wrong choices  we make while anger is upon us. Seek the grace to use the a God-giving energy of our emotions rightly for as someone wrote: "anger is like water; if it is not channeled, it becomes a flood rather than hydropower."

 Tomorrow's reading: Mt 5.43-48

 Lectio:  Mt 5.43-48

Meditatio: "So be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect.” Mt 5.48

Oratio: O God, You have set a  high standard for our conduct for You call us to be perfect as You are.

I remember Jesus declared how. We are to love all - enemies as well as friends. In prayer seek the good for all we come in contact for “good” is the object of love and our Heavenly Father will be pleased with us His children.

I ask this and all things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Contemplatio: spend some time in silence and meditate on the selected passage and hear what God is
 saying.

Operatio: reflect: "perfect...as...Father”; the challenge to be perfect as our heavenly Father is perfect at first blush seems impossible for us; but then Jesus told us how - He gave us the Golden Rule; and we are given the power to love as we are made in the image of God. Seek the grace to love always and then do what love commands and we will please our Father in all things.

 Tomorrow's reading: Mk 9.2-10
